Founder-led studio · Mesa, Arizona

About

Possum Mattern Studios is run by Phillip Mattern III, a local Mesa builder focused on practical websites, apps, automation, and AI-powered tools for small businesses and product ideas.

The studio is built around clear communication, useful fixes, and lightweight systems. No agency maze. No bloated process. Just practical digital work that helps people understand what you do and what to do next.

Founder

Mesa, Arizona

Phillip Mattern III is a computer science major building Possum Mattern Studios from Mesa, Arizona. He focuses on practical releases: websites, app surfaces, automation tools, and AI-assisted systems that help small businesses and product ideas ship something real instead of sitting in a deck.

I build and deploy practical full-stack web apps for small businesses, creators, and local organizations, including landing pages, dashboards, databases, auth systems, client portals, AI tools, and Vercel hosting.

He favors small scoped releases that survive real use, watches where people stumble, and tightens from there. Builder-led from start to finish. You work directly with the person doing the work.

Current local focus

  • $47 Website + Social Page Audits
  • Website cleanup and landing pages
  • Small business tools and intake flows
  • Lightweight automation and AI-assisted systems

Training & toolkit

I'm building Possum Mattern Studios while studying computer science and software development. The work is backed by formal coursework and active hands-on practice across web systems, visual design, databases, and application development.

Coursework foundation

  • Web and systems: Internet / Web Development I & II, plus Advanced Web Design
  • Programming logic: JavaScript, C#, Java, and object-oriented programming
  • Data management: MySQL database coursework
  • Visual design: Photoshop and digital imaging
  • Mobile apps: Android and application development

Active studio toolkit

Tools I'm currently learning and using in studio projects.

  • Frameworks: React / Next.js, Flutter, and Dart
  • Languages: TypeScript, Python, and Ruby
  • Tooling: Vite, Tailwind CSS, GitHub, and Vercel
  • AI workflows: Cursor AI, ChatGPT, Gemini, and API-based integrations
  • Design tools: Figma and Photoshop

Coursework gives the foundation. Studio projects turn it into shipped surfaces.

How I work

Practical over flashy

Clear pages, useful tools, and fixes people can actually use.

Local-first clarity

Mesa and East Valley businesses need websites and social pages that explain the offer fast.

Builder-led execution

You talk directly with the person reviewing, building, and improving the work.

Honest next steps

No fake guarantees. No ranking promises. Just clear notes, clean execution, and realistic options.

Build philosophy

Polish

Layouts with clear hierarchy, components that behave, detail on screens people reuse every week.

Performance

Lean where it shows: lighter paint, restrained JS, motion that survives mid-range phones.

Privacy

User data stays close to the person unless the architecture truly cannot keep it there. Quiet analytics, defaults you could explain aloud.

Ship mindset

Scope, build, watch what happens outside the repo, tighten again. Prefer field signal over hallway debate.
